We have turned on roaming profiles for the Windows machines
within the EECN network. Below are some common questions associated with profiles.
- What does this mean?
- It means that we can better support user defined settings (ie: backgrounds, application preferences).
- Can I save data to the Desktop now?
- Yes, your Desktop actually points to a folder on your H: drive called "Desktop." This may not be the case with laptops, however.
- What if I go over my profile limit space?
- If you go over the limit for your profile, one of two things may happen. First, you will
not be able to log off. If this happens, you should move saved documents to your home directory.
Secondly, you account may be turned off by the EECN Disk Watch process.
- Does it take longer to login now?
- The size of a roaming profile is the largest affect on the amount of time it takes to login to a machine.
